22nd September 2010

The upcoming third THiNK BIG Technology Forum, co-organized by the iCentre and Asia Inc Forum, will take place at the Empire Hotel on 28 October 2010. The forum will bring together over 200 delegates and leading players from the ICT industry as well as individuals overseeing technological applications in business and government.

They will come together to learn and assess how leading innovative technology enables business connectivity and efficiency, its impact on society, the economy and the government.

This year’s THiNK BIG Technology Forum will include a Conversation with A Global Player on “Embracing The Future: Global Trends and Challenges” featuring Vice-President for Microsoft in Asia Pacific, Mr. Ken Wye Saw.

Prior to his role in Microsoft’s Asia Pacific functions, Ken was the President for Southeast Asia for two years since Oct 2004, and had held direct responsibilities for providing strategic direction with Microsoft’s marketing, sales, operational and business development efforts in emerging markets.

Ken was also the General Manager for Communications Sector for Microsoft in Asia Pacific, Greater China and Japan regions from 2001 to 2004 where he was responsible for driving vertical sales strategies for network service providers. This entailed working closely with telecommunication companies, Internet Service Providers and Application Service Providers to take advantage of cost effective Microsoft based solutions. Equally important was his focus on working together with the services providers in creating new markets and services for connected businesses and consumers. Ken was previously Managing Director of Microsoft Singapore from 1997 to 2001.

Actively involved in the local Singapore IT community, Ken serves on the board of the Infocomm Development Authority and on the advisory committees of several Singapore-based institutions of higher education. Saw had also served as the Chairman of the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation. He was also with the National Computer Board for 14 years, his last appointment there being Assistant Chief Executive (Industry). His notable contributions during his National Computer Board days include playing a key role in driving national projects such as Singapore ONE and IT2000.

The event will also feature dynamic sessions on Globalizing Innovation by Ms. Rebecca Fannin, Author of Silicon Dragon, and an international e-Government expert will lead a forum discussion on “e-Government: Connecting with the Citizens” with key figures in Brunei’s e-Government program.

The conference will wrap up with a discussion on “Innovation: Delivering World Class Technology in Brunei” featuring Mr Kevin Walsh, Chief Technology Officer of Oracle Asia Research who has vast knowledge and experience in applying new technologies for businesses.
