29th November 2007

The annual National Business Conference is set to be held on Thursday the 29th of November 2007 at the Empire Hotel and Country Club. This year’s theme is ‘Can small be beautiful? Smart strategies for small countries and small businesses’ and aims to bring together some 300 delegates from the government and private sector to seek answers to this challenging question.

Asia Inc Forum together with its partners TOTAL, BLNG, ING Private Bank, BAG Networks and ALCOA are putting together the conference that aims to bring together the stakeholders of the growth of the nation to discuss how Brunei and Brunei companies can develop, grow and take part in this globalised world.

“The small size of Brunei and its small market has often been used as a convenient excuse for the slow growth of the country and its business sector. Other countries that are also small have shown that size does not matter. We hope that through the National Business Conference we will come up with some ideas of how small can be beautiful” said Allen Lai, CEO of Asia Inc Forum.

Leading regional figures will feature at the National Business Conference 2007. Among them are Tony Tan Caktiong, Chairman of Jollibee Foods of the Philippines who developed a two branch ice cream parlour in to the 570 outlet multi award winning success story it is today. Also speaking is Dr Paul Temporal, the region’s branding expert who will speak on the Branding of Nations and look at how small countries like Brunei can brand themselves.
