Nobel Laureate Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta to address the 13th Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility in Manila

Jose-Ramos-Horta Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Timor-Leste Dr. Jose Ramos- Horta will address the opening session of the 13th Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR) on 2nd September 2014 in Manila, Philippines.

The AFCSR is co-convened by Brunei-based Asia Inc Forum and the RVR Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Manila. It is Asia’s leading conference for CSR thought leadership and practice. This year’s AFCSR will focus on the theme “Building Resilient Communities: How Business, Government and Social Enterprises can work together”. Around 500 distinguished business and thought leaders, CSR practitioners and notable members of the government from 30 countries are expected to attend.

Dr. Ramos-Horta has been the international voice of the Timorese people. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1996 for his role in finding a peaceful solution to the conflict in his country. His contribution in helping to take Timor-Leste from violence and devastation to stability and economic growth in just over a decade serves as a model for community-building in the twenty-first century. He is currently the United Nations’ Special Representative and Head of the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau.

At AFCSR 2014 in Manila, Dr Ramos- Horta will be joined by other distinguished figures, including William Eggers, author of “The Solution Revolution: How Business, Government and Social Enterprises are Teaming Up to Solve Society’s Biggest Problems”; Veronica Colondam, Founder and CEO of Loving the Nation’s Children Foundation, Indonesia; Lahpai Seng Raw, Co-Founder, Metta Development Foundation, Myanmar and a 2013 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee; Vivian Claire Liew Founding Director, PhilantropyWorks, Singapore; Thitinan Pongsudhirak, Director, Institute of Security and International Studies, Thailand and Bradley Googins, Executive Director Emeritus, Boston College Centre for Corporate Citizenship, USA.
