THE 3rd National Environment Conference 2010, themed “Sustainability or Growth: Can We Have Both?” will take place tomorrow, July 1, at the Empire Hotel. Tomorrow’s conference will feature local and overseas figures and thought leaders on confronting the tough choices and trade-offs in favor of the environment and sustainable economic development of Brunei. Speakers include Dorjee Sun, CEO Carbon Conservation who will be sharing knowledge on carbon markets and the green economy and what Bruneians can reap from it; and Janice Larson, Director Renewable Energy from British Columbia, Canada, who will sharing with us Canada’s experience in alternative energies.

Another stimulating session in tomorrow’s conference is the open forum discussion on priorities featuring Simon Tay, Chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, and Atty Zelda Soriano, Advisor for Greenpeace Southeast Asia, who will be speaking on the topic “Can We Have Both Sustainability And Growth?”.

In conjunction with the conference, the Go Green Sustainability Awards, now on its second year, will recognise outstanding Bruneian organisations and individuals for their initiative to adopt environmentally sustainable practices.
