ASIA Inc Forum together with the United States (US) Embassy in Brunei will convene the first Health Forum at the Radisson Hotel on September 26.

In a press statement yesterday, Asia Inc announced the forum will bring together up to 80 leading health care policy makers, practitioners and academics from the public and private sector in Brunei to promote and stimulate thought on health care management.

The forum, themed “Preparing for the Evolving Needs of Brunei’s Health Care”, will feature Dr Harry Harris, a speaker from US.

Dr Harris is the founder and president of Healthcare California, the largest home health agency in Central California.

Established in 2004, HealthCare California works cooperatively with other health care providers, such as home medical equipment companies and home care agencies, to provide patients access to quality health care. Aside from managing HealthCare California, Dr Harris remains a global management consultant engaging with both corporations and government in over 100 nations.

Sharing his expertise in an interview with Asia Inc, Dr Harris said that cost containment is a major factor facing the health care industry globally.

Dr Harris said “nations need to reassess and review health care costs along with improved technologies” and “Brunei requires the same level of keen awareness to ensure health care costs are contained”.

While Brunei has the wealth to provide high standards of care for its citizens, Dr Harris said “health care services require a requisite level of oversight to ensure adequate returns for investment of resources”.

Meanwhile, the US Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam His Excellency Daniel Shields, in the statement said, “we are excited to team up with Asia Inc Forum on this important topic”.

“Dr Harris is a leading American expert on health care, entrepreneurship, multinational enterprise strategy, globalisation and global competitiveness. I am confident this will be a great engagement opportunity and participants will gain useful insights from each other,” said the ambassador.
