8th July 2009

Following the tremendous success of last year’s forum, Asia Inc Forum is organizing the second Women in Business Forum 2009, themed “Women Leading Change”.

The forum will focus on the role of women as change leaders in today’s highly competitive environment.

Distinguished figures from abroad have been invited to take part, including Senator Loren Legarda of the Philippine Senate, a leading woman legislator who is aspiring to run for President in the 2010 Philippine general elections; Datin Marina Tun Mahathir, writer, women’s rights advocate and daughter of Malaysia’s fourth Prime Minister; Renee Ho-Phang, Managing Director, Brandstory Inc, a branding and public relations agency for women’s products into the markets of China, Southeast Asia, Australia, US and the UK.

These leading overseas speakers will be joined by key figures in Brunei in leading discussions on issues facing women, including: “Women as Agents of Change”, “Womenomics – what are the trends worldwide?”, “Women in Management – how level is the playing field”, “The Success of Women-led Businesses”, “Creating a Personal Brand” and “Empowering Women in the Workplace: how can men contribute?”

The Women in Business Forum is a unique platform for bringing together Brunei’s businesswomen, women leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs to learn, network and share experiences and best practices that make a difference to women in society and as agents of change in today’s competitive work environment. The forum will honour outstanding Brunei women leaders at a “Tribute to Brunei Women Leaders” at lunch. The Awards seek to recognize and reward Brunei women for their leadership in their respective fields and their contribution to the Brunei economy in general.

The Women in Business Forum is partnered by Baiduri Bank, The Brunei Economic Development Board and Brunei Shell Petroleum, and Borneo Bulletin/Media Permata and BIG magazine as media partners.
