Bandar Seri Begawan – Asia Inc Forum announced yesterday that, together with the US Embassy in Brunei, they will be convening their first ever health-related forum on September 26 at the Radisson Hotel.

This announcement was made via a press statement from Asia Inc Forum, in which they said the “Health Forum” will focus on the theme of “Preparing for the Evolving Needs of Brunei’s Health Care” and will feature Dr Harry Harris, a speaker from the United States.

Dr Harris is the Founder and President of HealthCare California, the largest home health agency in Central California. Established in 2004, HealthCare California works cooperatively with other healthcare providers, such as home medical equipment companies and homecare agencies, to provide patient access to quality healthcare.

“According to Dr Harris, global populations are aging at an alarming rate and senior citizens are placing a huge burden on healthcare systems as life expectancy continues to increase,” reads the press release. “In the United States alone, about 76 million Baby Boomers turned 65 of age in 2011.”

“Moreover, healthcare costs throughout the work are rising with a global spending of US$5.8 billion annually”

As nations continue to experience increased demand for healthcare, cost containment will remain a major factor globally and requires nations to reassess and review their healthcare costs along with improved technologies. A native Californian, Dr Harris also served at The White House, Office of the Secretary of Defence and National Alliance of Business.

Aside from managing HealthCare California, Dr Harris remains a global management consultant engaging with both the corporations and government in over 100 nations.

“The Health Forum 2012 will bring together up to 80 leading health care policy makers, practitioners and academics from the public and private sectors in Brunei to promote and stimulate thought on healthcare management,” added Asia Inc Forum in the press release.
